I was inspired by the 18th Century Anatomical Venus, the very life-like medical curiosities that were made of wax and used to explain the female form and function. These beautiful, often sullen and strange figures, could be taken apart and studied.

In my illustrated version, I image a woman (let's call her Lucia) that still has full control of all her parts, especially her heart. No one can take anything away from her. She is her own.

The original hand drawn and painted illustration was created by me (Debra Styer) with watercolor and gouache paints over a graphite drawing.

The artwork on this limited edition print is approximately 6" X 8" (or 15.24 x 20.32 cm) and is printed on archival velvet fine art paper with archival inks.

The print includes a lovely antique white mat ready to pop into a 8 x 10 frame.

The print will be shipped to you in a protective sleeve with extra backing in a sturdy flat mailing envelope.

All prints are numbered, titled and signed by me.
