H.P. Lovecraft Portrait

Title: "The Call of the Lovecraft"

The name H.P. Lovecraft is synonymous with the Horror genre. He is best known for creating incredible world and creatures. My favorite being the horrific sea monster, Cthulhu, which can be seen crawling out of the breast pocket of the author in my illustration.

I love the way this mind works, digging deeply into the psychology and heart of reader. His life was full of tragedy which influenced the way the wrote. Although he became most known after his death, I couldn't imagine the world of horror with out him.

"The oldest and strongest emotion of mankind is fear, and the oldest and strongest kind
of fear is fear of the unknown."

H.P Lovecraft

The original illustration was hand drawn and painted by me (Debra Styer) with watercolor and gouache.
